Modelling and design of gear pumps with modified tooth profile

This book fills in the gap in publications on the modelling and design of external gear pumps with modified tooth profile. It is dedicated to designers, technologists and researchers, but also to students who want to broaden their knowledge of hydraulic drives and controls. The book is a synthesis of the knowledge about the structure of pumps and technology of manufacturing gears. Special attention is devoted to an original tooth root relief and modifications at the tooth tip. This novel solution opens up prospects for noise emission reduction, trapped volume relief and reduction dynamic loads in gear intermeshing. The knowledge was used to design and build original pumping units. The book’s merits are enhanced by numerous drawings and the accessible way in which the theoretical knowledge is presented.

Piotr Osinski, PhD, eng., is the head of the Hydraulic Drives and Vibroacoustics Laboratory at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Wroclaw University of Technology. For over 15 years he has been conducting research focused mainly on gear pumps. He has developed tens of engineering and technological designs.

Pumps use mechanical action to move liquids, gases, or slurries (solids suspended in a liquid or gas). The mechanical action is categorized as either positive displacement (PD) or kinetic. PD pumps capture and release discrete amounts of flow into a chamber and then force it out. Some examples of PD pumps are fuel and oil pumps in cars, pumps in hydraulic systems, and bicycle pumps. Kinetic pumps move liquids, gases, or slurries by transferring energy from the pump's movement to the flow. They use an impeller to draw the flow in, add energy to the flow, and move it through a volute (a spiral funnel through which the flow moves), and into the system.  Some examples of kinetic pumps include centrifugal (the most common pump in industrial applications), in-line pumps, sump pumps, and suction pumps. Energy sources for all types of pumps include wind power, manual operation, electricity, and gasoline or diesel fuel.
Vickers is a brand of Eaton, which manufactures electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical power equipment. The company, founded in 1911, and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.
  • Fixed-displacement hydraulic pump for a variety of mobile and industrial applications.
  • Independent intra-vane cartridge design allows servicing without removing pump from its mounting.
  • Low-noise design for indoor applications.
  • Right-hand rotation of drive shaft.
  • Maximum pressure rating of 2,500 psi.

1) Excellent! - I decided to purchase this Offshore Electric Generator Set in case of the zombie apocalypse. Although I had to pay an extra $15,000.50 for shipping, it arrived quickly and I was able to store it in my underground bunker without too much hassle. Believe it or not, last week, my town was overrun by zombies, and I was forced to retreat to my bunker to survive. I immediately whipped out the owner's manual for this generator and followed the 500 steps to turn it on. After securing the door to make sure that it was completely zombie proof in there, I was able to enjoy the comforts of electricity and I was able to charge my iPhone and live tweet the whole experience. Of course, I did almost die of carbon monoxide poisoning, but it was way better than living without electricity in my bunker. After the whole zombie experience, I am planning on donating this to my local Goodwill so that some other poor soul can save themselves from zombies. 5/5 stars.
