1) Amazing. Replacing 13 year old exact same machine. - Great pump. It's literally silent. The vertical float keeps the water level low. I just replaced a 13 year old machine that didn't burn out, just simply needed a new switch. I've fixed that unit and it's working, I just bought this one to use and keep the old one as backup. Get it, you'll love it.

2) sleeping easier - With all the heavy rain in the midwest this spring, our old pump was going off every minute or so. I investigated to see how much water was coming in. There was a lot, but the real problem was that 1/2 the water being pumped out was backflowing into the sump after each cycle. Did some research and learned about check valves, which we apparently did not have, and realized that our 10 yr. old pump was basically 20 yrs. old since it had been doing double duty. After lots more research, we decided on the Liberty 257. The reviews are excellent and there were no mentions of the switch problems that seem to plague the Zoellers. Not to mention the price and warranty are better. It's been installed for about a week now (hardest part of that was cleaning out the sump basin) and is running well. The old pump, while extremely dependable, was also extremely loud, as was the noise of the water rushing back into the pump without a check valve. Being as how the pump was right under our bedroom, I was losing a lot of sleep, both from noise and worry. Now I can barely hear it (and just worry about not being able to tell if it's running or not.) Much less water comes out the discharge and it seems to run a very short amount of time. That being said, it seems to be keeping up OK.
Update: We think we figured out the issue. The float differential (the difference in inches between the "on" level and "off" level) is only 3.5" on this pump. Most pumps seem to have a greater differential than that (and thus pump out more water at a time.) This pump is working great with heavy use, but consider this before you buy.
Update #2: Came back and updated my rating to 5 stars. We just had a torrential overnight rain the likes of which I've never seen and the pump was awesome! The water was pouring in so fast, the water would come within a few inches of the top of the basin before the pump could cycle on, but when it did, it emptied it completely. Wow! It's like it rises to the occasion of abusive conditions! :) Thank you, Liberty!

1) Better than most - Pump works fast and fine. I have had 4 different pumps and this is by far the best for my inground auto-cover pool. If you are considering the Rule pump, don't. The Rule pump is a piece of trash. This pump is far superior and will last longer than one season.

2) A Very GOOD Pool Cover Pump - This product is easy to use. Easy to guide over and around my above ground pool cover. This product has saved me a lot of work. Works great, even after the fall leaves are on my cover. It kept the water level on the pool cover at a minimum. Definitely recommend.

AMT Pump 335H-96 Self-Priming Diaphragm Pump, Aluminum, Curve C, 3" NPT Female Suction & Discharge Ports

The AMT Pump aluminum self-priming diaphragm pump is constructed with an aluminum housing for lightweight strength and a santoprene thermoplastic diaphragm for flexibility in both hot and cold temperatures, and is suitable for transfer of thick liquids and fluids mixed with abrasive solids up to 1-5/8" diameter, such as sand, silt, mud, sludge, and waste. This two-stage pump is capable of transferring material at temperatures ranging from 40 to 180 degrees F (4 to 82 degrees C). It is motor driven for a maximum head rating of 25'. This pump has a built-in check valve that assures self-priming to 20' after the initial prime. It has a 90 degree rotational base and female National Pipe Thread Taper (NPT) threaded suction and discharge ports for compatibility with most suction and discharge hose assemblies. This pump ships fully assembled (except for the handle) with an NPT steel suction strainer, two NPT nipples and an attached wheel assembly for portability. This pump is suitable for pumping mud, slurry, sewage, and other thick liquids that have the ability to flow in a wide variety of industrial liquid transfer and drainage applications.
Pumps use mechanical action to move liquids, gases, or slurries (solids suspended in a liquid or gas). The mechanical action is categorized as either positive displacement (PD) or kinetic. PD pumps capture and release discrete amounts of flow into a chamber and then force it out. Some examples of PD pumps are fuel and oil pumps in cars, pumps in hydraulic systems, and bicycle pumps. Kinetic pumps move liquids, gases, or slurries by transferring energy from the pump's movement to the flow. They use an impeller to draw the flow in, add energy to the flow, and move it through a volute (a spiral funnel through which the flow moves), and into the system. Some examples of kinetic pumps include centrifugal (the most common pump in industrial applications), in-line pumps, sump pumps, and suction pumps. Energy sources for all types of pumps include wind power, manual operation, electricity, and gasoline or diesel fuel.
American Machine and Tool (AMT) manufactures centrifugal and diaphragm pumps. The company is headquartered in Royersford, PA.

  • Two-stage, self-priming electric diaphragm pump for transfer of thick liquids
  • Motor driven.
  • Aluminum housing for lightweight strength, with a TPE santoprene diaphragm for flexibility in both hot and cold temperatures.
  • Temperature range of 40 to 180 degrees F (4 to 82 degrees C).

Tsurumi LB-480A-62 Light, Compact Submersible Dewatering Pump, 2", 2/3 HP

The Tsurumi LB-480A-62 is a general dewatering pump. The LB-series is a single-phase, lightweight and compact dewatering pump. Because of its slim design, it fits in an 8" casing. Adoption of semi-vortex pump design enables it to maintain the original pump performance for an extended period even if the impeller becomes worn. The discharge direction is selectable between top and horizontal, which prevents folding or bending of the discharge hose. Automatic model is accompanied by a level control unit having timer function that eliminates malfunction caused by rough water surface.

  • 2-inch discharge.
  • 2/3 horse power.
  • 110 voltage.
  • 6.1 amps.
  • 32-foot cable length.
